Meet Ian
Ian McIntosh has now retired from the board from which he served as treasurer. Ian was a civil engineer with over four decades of diversified experience in water resources. He was involved in the planning, design, and construction of hydroelectric developments and heavy civil projects in Canada and overseas. He carried out assignments in Indonesia, Thailand, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Chile and Peru, and lived for extended periods in Ecuador and Indonesia. After retirement, Ian was recruited by an Auxiliary Board member to take on the role of Treasurer of the Auxiliary. In saying “yes,” he did not realize his involvement would extend beyond a decade and result in interesting challenges, personal enjoyment, and a Life Member Award. In addition to his financial and Board duties, his Auxiliary volunteering includes regular shifts at the Information Desk. Ian also volunteered with the West Vancouver Computer Club, serving as its program director and president, and was a computer course instructor at the West Vancouver Seniors’ Centre and Treasurer for the Finance Committee of the West Vancouver Seniors’ Centre Advisory Board.
