Meet Lyn
After retiring from a 40-year career based in downtown Vancouver, Lyn Bailey felt a calling to volunteer in her new community of North Vancouver. In 2015, she joined the Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary, helping out at the Information Desk and Thrift Shop. In 2016, she became a Board director and the Auxiliary’s Special Events Coordinator, a role well suited to her professional background and skills. After attending UBC in the Faculty of Education, she began a career in Human Resources and started her own successful company. She also worked for an MLA in Victoria and at the Canadian Cancer Society, and has served on several boards, including the Downtown Vancouver Association and the Sunshine Coast Foundation. At this time of her life, she feels very fortunate and privileged to contribute to her community and to wake up happy every morning looking forward to volunteering at the hospital, her “second home.” “How lucky am I!” she says with a smile.
