Meet Susan
Susan joined the Auxiliary board as a director in February 2020. As of April 2020, Susan also assumed the role board secretary, a spot previously occupied by Tim Beasley.
Susan moved to West Vancouver as a young child and raised her own family within that community. Over many years she has been an active volunteer with a number of North Shore organizations and has served on community advisory committees with the West Vancouver Municipality and with the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD). Susan was a director on the first North Shore Regional Health Board.
Retiring in 2018, Susan’s 35-year professional career began in the hospital medical laboratory. After receiving her Masters in Health Care Leadership, Susan worked for many years in senior positions at the management and directorship level. Susan has teaching experience at both the University of British Columbia and the British Columbia Institute of Technology and has worked internationally on accreditation education and assessment of health care organizations.
Susan remembers her mother, a Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary Pink Lady (so called for the pink colored coats volunteers wore in those days), happily heading off to her LGH volunteer shifts while Susan and her siblings left for school in the mornings. While the uniform color and style has changed, Susan is pleased to carry on the family tradition and commitment to Lions Gate Hospital.
